Photovoltaic power generation is environmental protection or pollution

In recent years, China’s PV installed capacity has continued to expand and has become the world’s largest application market. However, at the same time of breakthroughs in development, z profile the problems of power cuts and overcapacity have become the bottleneck of industry development for many years. So is the current situation of abandoned light and power still still? What are the hardest hit areas that have abandoned light and electricity?

Photovoltaic power generation is environmental protection or pollution?

Photovoltaic power generation is environmental protection or pollution

Photovoltaic power generation “abandonment of light” means the amount of electricity generated by a photovoltaic power station, exceeding the maximum transmission capacity of the power system and the amount of power consumed by the load. Coexisting with the abandoned light is “limited power”, which limits the power output. The higher the light rejection rate, the lower the utilization rate of photovoltaic power generation. The reporter learned that in 2017, the average light rejection rate of the five northwestern provinces was 14.1%, far higher than the national average of 6%, while in 2015 and 2016, the figure exceeded 30%. Many PV companies in the Northwest region participate in the bidding transaction of the local power grid, and use the way of bidding below the market price to obtain the power transmission indicators to reduce the light rejection rate. The reporter learned that in 2015 and 2016, the newly installed PV installed capacity in the five northwestern provinces was 6.08 million kWh and 9.43 million kWh, accounting for 40% and 28% of the country. At this time, the construction speed of the power grid in the northwest region lags far behind the new installed capacity.

In addition, the laying of UHV lines is also costly. According to calculations, 100 kilometers of transmission lines are laid, and the investment cost needs to be 1.25 billion yuan. According to industry insiders, “abandonment of light” is mainly due to the limited transmission capacity of the power grid, which cannot be connected to the grid after the power station is built. The ability to absorb local energy in the northwest region is weak, and the power transmission capacity of the power grid has not kept up with the construction speed of photovoltaic power plants. Therefore, it is difficult to significantly change the phenomenon of “disposal of light”. The data shows that in 2017, the photovoltaic power generation in the northwest region was 39.286 billion kWh, an increase of 37.81% year-on-year, while the annual electricity consumption including delivery was only 7.79%.click

In fact, for photovoltaic power plants in the northwest, in addition to overcapacity and nowhere to transport, a key issue at present is that the local grid size does not have the capacity to support 10 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power. So, is there a way to turn photoelectricity into stable power to ensure its safe delivery? The reporter found that the “storage power station” may become the key to solving this problem.
